Any 1000 rated players want slow games?
Then join our team in the 45 45 league at ICC! Email me (blue dot devilknight at yahoo -dot- com) if you are interested, and let me know your rating and handle at ICC and I'll help you get set up. It is a great way to get in one slow game a week. Our team, The King Assassins is in the U1300 division.

I would love to join you guys, but my plate is full at the moment with one tournament game a week and the national chess league starting shortly. When things calm down you can count me in if there is room for more players.
Got an question for you. Long ago you were seeing a chess coach. How did that play out? At blitz speeds I can spot my own mistakes... often seconds after making them! But at slow time controls my games have very few tactical mistakes and humans are better at finding strategic ones. I am thinking that playing some slow games and getting a coach to help me understand them and guide my studies might help me to improve.
What time are the games played? I'm in Australia so it may not be convenient.
Feralpawn: people play from all over the world. You negotiate your time each week with your opponent. It is typically painless.
likeforests: iIt was pretty helpful, We realized I should be studying tactics and that wasn't something he could help me much with. He liked the circles idea, and recommended just playing a lot. He was right! When I plateau I'll get another coach probably.
Thanks! I went ahead and setup a meeting with a chess coach. Perhaps I will learn something equally simple.. go read My System and then come back! Either way, it should be helpful. :)
Off topic: Safari is behaving discriminatory against your excellent choice of header. ;)
I'm trying to sustain an ICC Blitz rating at 1300 and my standard rating is about on par with my USCF at around 1600. Not sure I have the bandwidth though.
My Icc handle is blunderprone... and yours is?
BP: we literally need someone rated around 1000 for the U1300 team :)
get me set up for one. playmybest @ ICC
playmybest: to play in the league you'd have to have a much lower rating, and a standard game rating established.
I wasn't kidding when I said 1000-rated. I guess people who read chess blogs tend to be way better than all that.
Just to clarify, I'm not looking for people to play me in slow games. I was just looking for someone to join our team.
I used to advertise my username and stuff at ICC on my blog, but then I ended up all stressed out about it as people would message me all the time (e.g., when my rating would fluctuate), which sort of stressed me out and ended up taking a lot of time and energy at ICC. So now I try to stay relatively anonymous at ICC, my sacred chess playing space.
