They meet at Francesca's on 9
th St in Durham on Tuesday's and Thursday's at
7:30 7:00 PM. Blogger
Loomis was there, plus three others. They were all good chaps, and it was a good time. I plan on going every Thursday, and perhaps intermittent Tuesdays. It only took a few games to get my 3-D board vision. I did manage to win one game, using the Danish Gambit as white.
Awesome! Going to a chess club has definitely helped me a lot, plus it can be tons of fun. Hope we get to see some of your club games :)
ReplyDeleteGood to see you there. I have to admit it was the first time I'd been in a while, though I hope to be going more frequently. They're all pretty nice guys.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! I tell my now-young-adult kids I'm clubbing on Tuesdays, then I get that funny look. I go, "No, the ecstasy I will take is beating some 10 year old kid."
ReplyDeleteI used to tell them I was going to fight club but then they would all remind me that I just broke the first rule. Yeah, my kids... inherited some warped sense of humor from soem gene pool.
Cool! i'm enjoying the club experience more then i can say so myself. Everytime i'm really looking forward to club day, wishing it was club day everyday :). Nothing beats some serious OTB action. Another step towards mastery :). You're a "clubplayer" now ;).
ReplyDeleteCool club name btw.
ReplyDelete"Durham's Underground Chess Club" -- also known as "DUCC" or "The Duck", for short? Maybe on day the local chess clubs in Durham can face off in the epic match of Duke vs The Duck?
